WHERE

THEATRE SPAZIO SFERA – via Carabinieri Caduti 10, BUSSERO (MILAN) METRO LINE 2 (the theatre is 300 meters from the metro). A new, large space, an innovative theatre, with more dance halls equipped for dance and all bright and a wonderful dome of 500 square meters, where dancing is a unique experience.
The theater has a capacity of 370 seats from which the stage (10×8 wood without slope) is clearly visible from every sitting both in the audience and in the gallery.

PURPOSE OF WORKSHOP

MAD IDC, wants to give the opportunity to have a 360 º experience in dance, the internship is a moment of important training, also open to those who will not participate in the competition, where study and technique find their focus in appropriate spaces and with the right attention from teachers highly qualified in their style.

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION MAD IDC II ed (2-3 December 2023)

COMPETITION PURPOSE

MAD IDC, wants to bring dance time back to its proper dimension. For this it takes place in two days: a day dedicated to classical and contemporary dance, another day dedicated to modern dance, urban dances and heels. The aim of the Competition is the constructive comparison of growth and experience, in an appropriate, serene and functional environment. If possible there will be a comparison with the jury at the end of the competition. If the times of the competition do not grant it, we will send to all the notes of the jury for each performance and the relative score.  

CATEGORIES

Solo, pas de deux, groups

DANCE STYLES

  • 2 december: classical/neoclassical (unique category), contemporary
  • 3 december: modern, street dance, heels
  • Choreographic composition : unique category. Classical, neoclassical and contemporary on December 2, modern urban dances and heels on December 3 accepted contamination. There is no age breakdown and groups can be composed of dancers* of different ages between 6 and 24. In this category will be evaluated not only the performance quality, but especially the construction of choreographic work.

ALLOWED LEVELS

  • 6 – 8 years BABY allowed only groups. Styles: neoclassical, modern, urban dance (max 3 minutes)
  • 9 – 11 years CHILDREN allowed soloists, pas de deux, groups. Styles: classic (no tips), neoclassical, contemporary, modern, street dance (solo max 2 min, pas à deux max 3 min, groups max 4 minutes)
  • 12 – 15 yers JUNIOR allowed soloists, pas de deux, groups. Styles: classic, neoclassical, contemporary, modern, street dances.(solo max 3 min, pas de deux, max 3 min, groups max 5 min)
  • 16 – 24 anni SENIOR allowed soloists, pas de deux, groups. All styles allowed. (solo max 3 min, pas de deux, max 3 min, groups max 5 min).
  • CHOREOGRAPHIC COMPOSITION : all styles allowed, also contaminated age 6 -24 (max duration 5 min)

Regarding the age of the dancers* in the levels (apart from the choreographic composition): the average age must fall exactly in the category and no exceptions are allowed.
The maximum duration of performances may not exceed a maximum of 10 seconds and no exceptions are allowed.

COMPETITION COSTS

Solo: 70€ if paid before 30 September – 80€ from 1 October to 20 November
Pas de deux: 110€ paid before 30 September – 130€ from 1 October to 20 November
Groups and choreographic composition: 20€ for each dancer if paid before 30 September – 25€ from 1 October to 20 November
(If the dancer performs more works: 5 € less for an additional choreography than the expected fee, 10 € less than the expected fee if he participates in three total choreographies and for further cases contact the organization)

Tickets to access the theatre on the day of the competition must be booked via liveticket platform: numbered seat cost 10€, until seats last (there will be no possibility to add additional seats after availability)

The first three of each category will be awarded, as well as special prizes and scholarships being defined.

COMPETITION JURY

All judges will cast one vote for each performance with a majority of style specialty judges.  At the link you will find all the detailed information of the jurors.

ALBERTO RADICE - President of Jury for both days of Competition

He has been director of Bovisio Masciago’s orchestra “Filarmonica G. Verdi” since 2000 and has held various concerts in collaboration with the string section of ”Gradus Eventi Musicali”.

He worked with the soloists of the corps de ballet of Teatro alla Scala in Milan and with internationally renowned étoiles. With them he directed the great waltzes by Strauss, “Carmen” by Bizet, “The Firebird” by Stravinsky, “Rhapsody in Blue” by Gershwin and “Boléro” by Ravel performed by Biagio Tambone.

In 1998 he directed “The Three-Cornered Hat” by Manuel de Fall at Teatro San Carlo in Naples.

Under the guidance of the conductor Iury Aronovich he directed “The Firebird” by Stravinsky with the orchestra “Filarmonica del Santa Cecilia” in Rome. In 1999 he perfected himself with the conductor Isaac Karatghetzky, by directing “L’Accademia della Filarmonica” of Teatro alla Scala in Riva del Garda.

He worked as an assistant conductor for “The Barber of Seville” by Rossini in Teatro La Fenice in Venice. In 2001 he directed the Verdian concert for the “Centenary of the death of G. Verdi” (arias and symphonies of the most famous works of the great G. Verdi)

In 2022 he worked with international artists for various concerts in theatres such as Teatro Nazionale and Teatro Smeraldo in Milan.

In 2006 he was the artistic director of “Sleeping Beauty” at Teatro Nazionale in Milan.

In 2007 he was the artistic director and director of “The Divine Comedy” at Teatro Smeraldo in Milan, where the dancers of Accademia Aloysius participated. He has been the artistic and educational director of Accademia Aloysius since 1997.

He studied music at the conservatoire G. Verdi in Milan and ballet and modern dance simultaneously. He attended the best Italian schools to become a dancer and choreographer. He finished his studies at C.S.C. in Milan, where he taught for two years.

He studied and specialized in flamenco with the greatest Spanish dancers and danced in the most important Italian theatres and international settings: Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Nazionale in Milan, Teatro Smeraldo in Milan, Teatro Bellini in Catania, Teatro Greco in Taormina, Festival Internazionale in Massa Carrara and Teatro Regio in Turin.

He directed and produced the 2012 opera season at Teatro della Luna with the operas Tosca, Carmen (Ballet) and La Traviata. He was the artistic director of the ballet “Giselle” at Milano Palazzo Reale in 2017 and Teatro Argentia in Gorgonzola with the Junior Company Aloysius.

He directed the ballet Don Chisciotte at Teatro Elfo Puccini in 2018 and the Junior Company Aloysius with the ballet The Nutcracker at Teatro Argentina in Gorgonzola in December of the same year. In February 2020 he was the artistic director and choreographer of the ballet company Aloysius, for which he staged the ballet Carmen at Teatro Sociale in Bergamo and Teatro Nuovo in Milan.

He is currently the artistic director and founder of the dance training center MAD and the artistic director of Teatro Spazio Sfera in Bussero.

ORIELLA DORELLA - Classical and neoclassical dance (2 DICEMBRE)

Mrs. Dorella needs no introduction, we report only some of the main elements of her artistic history.
She entered the La Scala school at the age of 8, under the direction of Esmée Bulnes, she graduated in 1969. Within the corps de ballet of the Teatro alla Scala she is a soloist in 1972, prima ballerina in 1977, starting from 1986 étoile. Later she is artistic director of the Milan Ballet. On television, she participated in the 1981-1982 edition of Fantastico and in the big fictional films on Italia 1 in 2005 and Non stop dreaming in 2009 and 2011.
Among the most significant interpretations of her we remember La strada by Mario Pistoni to music by Nino Rota. She oriella Dorella she says she fell in love with the character of Gelsomina seeing the interpretation of Fiorella Cova, prima ballerina of La Scala and wife of Pistoni.
Other roles in the classical and contemporary repertoire played by Oriella Dorella are Giselle, Coppelia, The Nutcracker, Miss Julie by Birgit Cullberg, John Cranko’s The Taming of the Shrew, Kenneth McMillan’s L’Histoire de Manon, Onegin, Afternoon of a Faun by Jerome Robbins , Adam and Eve, Daphnis et Chloé by George Skibin, The Blue Angel by Roland Petit, Proust ou Les intermittences du coeur.

MARISA CAPRARA - Classical and neoclassical dance (2 DICEMBRE)

Classically trained dancer, she trained under the guidance of famous masters such as Victor Litvinov, Valentina Massini and Gabriel Popescu, arriving to carry out a career as a dancer in various Italian theaters. In 1992 he graduated as a teacher at the Ballet School of the Teatro alla Scala and founded together with the Principal Dancer of the Teatro alla Scala, Biagio Tambone and other colleagues, the A.I.D.A. Association, with the support of the then Director of the Ballet School of the Teatro alla Scala, Anna Maria Prina. In 1995 she coordinates the writing of the book Course of Classical Dance, published by De Vecchi.

In 2000 he obtained the Diploma of Professeur and Maitre de Ballet at the Teatro alla Scala and in the same year he became President of A.I.D.A., which since 2006 sees as Honorary President the Director of the Ballet School of the Teatro alla Scala, Frédéric Olivieri. Parallel to her teaching activity, she is in charge of the creation and production of some classical ballets, of which she signs the choreography. In 2008 she founded the AIDA lei academic classical dance training center, of which she is still the Artistic and Didactic Director.
Since 2009 she has been Professor of Classical Academic Practice, in the A.I.D.A. in collaboration with Accademia Teatro alla Scala.

ANGELO EGARESE - Contemporary dance (2 DICEMBRE)

He was born in Milan in 1984 and lived in Naples where he studied classical and contemporary dance. He specializes in Florence and Budapest.
He has worked as a professional dancer in various Italian and European companies.
In 2012 he founded the Kinesis CDC based in Florence.
Winner of the competition DANZ’E ’- DANZ’E’ OFF in Rovereto, with the creation of a show for the
Festival Oriente Occidente.
Selected for the platform of young choreographers in Almada Portugal. Selected for the European project “The craft of art” by Fabbrica Europa.
Choreographer for Balletto del sud by Fredy Franzutti
Selected for the Choreographic Dance European project of the National Dance Foundation,
Aterballetto and the Teatro Regio di Parma Foundation.
His productions for Kinesis CDC are and have been on tour in important National Festivals and International.
Since 2016 he has specialized in the creation of cultural projects that have seen the support of: Tuscany Region, CR Firenze Foundation, Municipality of Florence and Montevarchi (AR), Publiacqua, MIC Ministry of Culture, Florence Dance Festival.

LUCA RIMOLO - Contemporary dance (2 DICEMBRE)

Former international solo dancer and teacher.

Graduated from the “Palucca Hochschule Fur Tanz Dresden” (Germany), he flew to the United States from where he began his career as a professional.

During his career as a dancer he collaborated with various choreographers on the contemporary scene: in America with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, in Italy with Fredy Franzutti, in Poland and Croatia with the National Theaters where he danced contemporary solo roles in ballets including Romeo and Juliet, Mozart’s Requiem, Carmen.

Teacher and choreographer since 2015 already in the United States, he has never stopped teaching in both academic contexts and in dance schools, international and national internships.

SONIA USURINI - Modern dance (3 DICEMBRE)

Teacher M,A.S. of Milan and Referent for the professional start-up course of Modern Contemporary Scuola Danza Teatro Oscar Milano

Dancer, teacher and important choreographer of the panorama of modern dance.

A long and transversal artistic career that ranges from theater to television, to musicals. Important classical, modern and contemporary education. He has created numerous choreographies and shows, included in prestigious Italian festivals. Permanent teacher at the most important Italian training centres.

He currently holds internships in Italy and abroad.

LEONARDO URBANI AKA URBAN - Street Dance (3 DECEMBER)

Teacher Dancer Choreographer urban dances with international experience

Teaching Foundation freestyle techniques and choreographic work.

Skills: Hip Hop • Popping • Locking • House • Krump.

Event organization since 2018 – Raw Culture Underground | Tuscany: events dedicated to urban dance disciplines, street and underground culture through live showcases, battles and art.

External examiner for hip hop academic paths and juror in contests and competitions.

 

 

ALESSIA BULDO - Heels (3 DECEMBER)

Dancer, freelance teacher, choreographer.

She is present in the most important television broadcasts (“X Factor”, “Stasera c’è Cattelan”, “Eurosong Contest” and many others) with a great background of professional technique and experience.

 

 

COMPETITION RULES

  1. The competition is open to NON-PROFESSIONAL students of dance schools.
  2. Every student must be in possession of a medical certificate not agonistic during validity and insurance coverage of their school
  3. The competition is open to soloists, pas de deux and groups (the number of members of the group is freely chosen, taking into account the size of the stage). Age of participants is indicated above and no exceptions are allowed.

  5. The registration is considered completed after sending the receipt of payment along with the completion of the registration form and the signing of the regulation by the person in charge of the member or members. Minor or adult authorisations may be submitted later. Registration deadline 20 November or when available places are reached.

  7. Participation in the MAD IDC implies the unreserved acceptance of the regulation and any additional rules that the organization reserves the right to introduce and that assume equivalent value to the regulation itself
  8. The organization reserves the right to modify the event due to technical requirements, to be able to change location, times and organization of activities.

ELISABETTA HERTEL - Ballet

Artistic Director of the International Dance Academy of Florence

Her international experience born as a student of the “Académie De Danse Classique Princesse Grace” in Monte-Carlo continues as a dancer of the Stuttgart Ballet in which she played solo roles and roles created specifically for her, is then transformed into the desire to take with the right support and with so much daily study the path of the profession of dance. The dancers and dancers trained by her who come from all over the world are now principal dancers, solo dancers and dancers in the most important international companies.

The internship is also valid as an audition for the year 2024/2025 for the Accademia Internazionale Coreutica of Florence in Italy.

The Accademia Internazionale Coreutica was founded by Elisabetta Hertel with the prospect of offering students from all over the world, a course aimed at inclusion in the most important international dance companies, taking advantage of a comprehensive program of studies to address the artistic career of classical dance and contemporary dance. Through the experience of the teachers, stable and invited, and the different methods employed, the artistic studies are dosed in an optimal way to obtain the best result.

ANGELO EGARESE - Kinesis lab - Contemporary dance

Artistic Director and resident choreographer of Kinesis Contemporary Dance in Florence .
His training as a dancer develops through the study of classical and contemporary dance. He perfected his studies between Florence and Budapest. He began his career as a dancer in various Italian companies and
foreign. In 2012 he founded Kinesis Contemporary Dance Company which, for its quality and stylistic code and choreographic innovation, obtained the support over the years of the Tuscany Region, Fondazione CR Firenze, Municipality of Florence, Publiacqua, MIC Italian Ministry of Culture, Metropolitan City of Florence, CRToscana, Florence Dance Festival (one of the most important dance festivals in Italy which attracts companies from all over the world). Its productions are sought after both in Italy and abroad.

SONIA USURINI - Modern Contemporary

M.A.S. teacher and Referent for the professional start-up course of Modern/Contemporary Scuola di Danza Teatro Oscar in Milan

Dancer, teacher and important choreographer of the panorama of modern dance.
A long and transversal artistic career that ranges from theater to television, to musicals. Important classical, modern and contemporary education. She has created numerous choreographies and shows, included in prestigious Italian festivals. Permanent teacher at the most important Italian training centres.

The internship also counts as an audition for the Modern / Contemporary professional start-up course for the 2024/2025 academic year of the Oscar Theater Dance School

  2. Each student must have a valid non-competitive medical certificate and insurance coverage from their school

  4. Registration is considered completed after the receipt of payment is sent together with the completion of the internship registration form together with the signing of the regulation by the person in charge of the registered(s). Authorizations for minors or adults can be forwarded later. Deadline for registration November 25 or when all available places are filled
